A Chinese philosopher once wrote about the paradox of water
and rocks, pointing out that something soft and yielding
will overcome that which is rigid and hard. I believe that
it is impossible to care for children physically without
listening to their bodies and respecting their spirits.
Sometimes both mainstream and “alternative” practitioners
forget about the child who has the symptoms in their rush
to aggressively treat his or her disease. In my opinion, a
gentle approach is the cornerstone of successfully healing
children. However, employing seemingly gentle means to heal
can be incredibly powerful, and achieve far more in the
long term than harsher means.
